Loyal iPhone supporters will be excited to hear about the launch of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which is expected in South Africa sometime in November. In the meantime, we take a look at what is to be expected with the new device.
Features to look forward to
The most noticeable feature change is the new design. With the iPhone 6 being 4.7-inch big and the iPhone 6 Plus at 5.5-inch (bordering on the line of a phablet). The square edges have been curved, it’s thinner by 0.7mm, and has switched the power button to be on the right hand side with the volume keys on the left.
The iPhone 6 boasts more power than before with an A8, 64-bit second generation processor and M8 motion coprocessor. The A8 energy chip alone is expected to be much more energy efficient. With it being more energy efficient, we are hoping it also has a longer battery life. Which it is said to be able to run 250 hours on standby!
Being a very visual generation of smartphone users, perhaps apple should have increased the mega-pixels instead of sticking with 8MP. With this in mind there are some features within the camera that are worth mentioning, one of which is, the new Apple-design image signal processor built into the iPhone 6 to ensure it handles images better. There are added extras like ‘Metal’ which helps give the viewer a more enhanced and detailed graphic.
Is the price worth it? The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is expected to be somewhat costly for the South African consumers. Will the new features and bigger screen be enough to convince consumers the price is worth it?
Now that you have a few things to consider when next smartphone shopping, you can really consider what the iPhone brings to the smartphone playground and see what best suits your lifestyle and technology needs.
